After months of speculation, clues and spiralling theories, Kylie Jenner confirmed her pregnancy last Sunday with an 11-minute video titled “To Our Daughter” posted on all her social media. The video confirms what many of her fans speculated and also gave the world the first shot of Jenner’s niece, Chicago West. Jenner also posted a statement about why she kept her pregnancy a secret and never confirmed any rumours until after the fact.
“I’m sorry for keeping you in the dark through all the assumptions,” Jenner said in the statement. “I understand you’re used to me bringing you along on all my journeys. My pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world.”
Jenner and her boyfriend, rapper Travis Scott, welcomed their first child on Feb. 1, but one thing missing in the video announcement was the baby’s name. That announcement would come five days later and, unsurprisingly, the 20 year old makeup mogul stuck to her family’s tradition of unique names. Despite rumours sparked by a picture on Kris Jenner’s instagram that the little girl’s name would be Mariposa (Posie for short), Jenner confirmed with a cute picture on her own Instagram that her daughter’s name is Stormi.
The picture soon became the most liked image of Instagram, surpassing Beyonce’s pregnancy announcement, and has collected more than 16 million likes in its first three days on the app.
TMZ has also allegedly obtained Stormi’s birth certificate, which revealed that, like her cousins North, Saint and Chicago, she has no middle name. The certificate also confirms that Stormi is not a nickname, nor is it short for any other name. That is actually her name. Her full name is Stormi Webster, as Travis Scott’s real name is Jacques Webster.
The Kardashian-Jenner clan has expanded rapidly in the past weeks, with Chicago being born on Jan. 15, and Stormi coming into the world two weeks later. Their family will continue to grow, as Khloe Kardashian is due to have her first child in March.
