Movie Night Results

Last weekend, South presented the movie, “The Incredibles,” in the school’s auditorium. As part of South’s holiday tradition of collecting cans and donations for various charities and students, Student Government set up a food drive on Dec. 9, where students can bring cans of food in to donate as admittance to watch a movie with friends and family.

“We are showing the movie ‘The Incredibles’ for the fundraiser. All donations are for Axemen Angels, which supports low-income families at South,” senior Student Government member Sheena Huang said. “We were collecting non-perishables.”

However, the actual number of cans collected during the movie nights turned out to be less than what Student Government expected.

“It didn’t not go as successfully as we planned,” Huang said. “We advertised it as much as we could. Not many people showed up. Each person who showed up donated at least three cans. In total we collected 30 cans than night. We wish South had better school spirit.”

Despite the turnout of the Movie Night, Student Government is still pushing the student body to give more cans this year through a class competition for donations.
