As winter break gets closer and closer, the collective holiday spirit of South has drastically gone up. Over the past week, for example, the announcements have been presented with popular holiday music. Moreover, a brass quintet is working together to increase holiday spirit outside of the school by playing various Christmas carols. A brass quintet, composed of two trumpets, a euphonium, a tuba and a french horn, will be performing Christmas carols after school on Friday, Dec. 15. They will be playing outside the auditorium on the sidewalk.
“I think that playing live will help us a lot with acoustics, and how to play outside compared to in a room,” Magnus Weaver, trumpet player in the quintet said. “We haven’t really played outside, so this will be a new experience for us, and we’ll learn a lot,” Weaver said.
While there are many facilities at South, the band is often forgotten. However, the band hopes its presence at South is more obvious after this performance.
