Golfers Swing Into May

By: Jackson Naugle

After the 2014 golf season came to an end last spring, the experienced members of the team had no clue of what was soon to come this year. The turnout of golfers was a tremendous improvement upon previous years, especially with the nine new Freshman. Older members of the team are pleased to see the abundance of new faces out on the course.
The players are now constantly playing on the course and training on the driving range to get to their optimal level of play. This hard work has payed off for the JV and Varsity teams, both making solid performances in their early-season tournaments.
“We got second in our first tournament, and first in our next two. The season has gone well,” Freshman Felix Golledge-Ostmeier added.
With the season moving forward, the Axemen golfers still have high hopes for the remaining competitions. The team believes, that with the proper practicing, they can challenge some of the best teams in the area.
“We’ve pretty much dominated so far, and I think we could make some noise at districts,” Freshman Ethan Lucas said.
